Shimmer Gives Me Shivers (in a good way)

Everyone seems to be hating on this dress that Halle Berry recently wore,

but I love it!

I love the cut, the fit, and the black shimmery finish.

I think she looks completely gorgeous.

Some people are saying her breasts are spilling out,

but I think it looks fine.

Although I'm sure a larger cup would look good, too.

As for the cut of the dress,

I love the sexy yet not over-the-top cut outs.

They are relatively subtle and I like that about them.

Besides, the dress hits below the knee,

so I think it is perfectly fine to have cut-outs at her age.

Personally, I want this dress.

Halle looks amazing.

The only thing I'd change is her accessories.

That cuff bracelet needs to be swapped in for something else.

It's terrible.

I love that she chose to compliment a black dress with a red clutch.

However, I would choose a different red clutch.

This one is for the daytime,

not for pairing with a shimmery black dress.

She needs a deeper red.

But other than that,

Hall Berry is shimmering!!

"Love at her Feet"

I find these flats incredibly heartwarming and lovable.

I am a romantic at heart and adore anything relating to love,

so it only makes sense that I would love the "Love Flats" from Christian Louboutin.

Princess Diana was the inspiration for these flats,

and Christian Louboutin, said

"I wanted her to always have love at her feet."

What a great quote that is!

Not only do these flats make my heart flutter,

but also they are rather chic.

With their patent leather, gold and black color combination, cool letter design,

and awesome way in which the "O" connects across both feet,

these flats are chic and modern.

If I had $595 to spare,

I would surely invest in these!

Now, I don't know what this is that Amanda Seyfried is wearing.

(Is it a dress? Is that a skirt? Or are they shorts?)

All I know is,

everyone needs to wear it.

She looks absolutely adorable.

I love the little details on the jacket (?).

The tiny bag has an interesting texture to it.

And I love the shape of her shoes,

and the way they go straight across before her toes.

In addition, I just love her make-up.

The lipgloss is a nice cheery pink,

although it kind of looks darker here.

I love when people pair darker toned outfits

with cheery, pink, make-up.

It looks great!

Birthday Wishes

Let me just say that I practically had a heart attack when I saw this dress.

It was love at first sight.

I cannot get over the absolute gorgeousness of this dress.

I especially love the black lines

and the scalloped edges of the lace along the neckline.

Truly this is one of the most beautiful items I've seen recently.

Although, I must say,

I do think that the slouchy cardigan

detracts from the overall beauty of this outfit.

I would definitely prefer the dress without it.

Nevertheless, I think Preen did an insanely amazing job with this one.

Also, I'm glad they chose a model with actual breasts,

because this dress would not look nearly as nice if it weren't filled out.

My birthday is right around the corner,

and this dress would be a dream come true to receive.

Skulls & Knives in Our Fashion Lives

I'm not a violent person. In fact, I hate violence.

And I don't like the thought of death,

so I'm not really a big fan of clothing with skulls on it.

But I have to admit, this girl's outfit rocks.

It reminds me of celebrity "It" girls, especially from a few years ago.

Those skull scarves used to be really trendy.

And while they are no longer in style,

this girl is still rockin' that scarf like nobody's business.

I love her loose layers.

The perfectly large V-neck tee, the boyfriend cardigan, and the draping scarf all add a nice casualness to her outfit.

The canvas tote is also rather casual.

Yet the skinny jeans and boots combo dresses up her look enough to keep it from being sloppy.

The way she pulled her hair up into a relatively tight bun also neatens it up.

I love the little details of this outfit.

I love the way it's mostly dark and not very colorful,

except for the pop of color of the intense, almost neon, red of her scarf. And I love the way her shirt and cardigan are about the same length,

yet her scarf hangs down further.

And those cute buttons on the cardigan! I love those! Especially because they are not the same color as the rest of the cardigan. It's a very nice detail.

Additionally, I love the strong contrast of her black bag with the white knife graphic.

It really looks cool,

instead of dark and violent.

I don't think I'll ever really lose my love for casual, layered, looks like this one.

They are one of my favorite types of outfit.

P.S. I just realized she standing on one of those moving sidewalks they have at airports that are kind of like escalators but flat. I love those things!

Before It Gets Too Chilly

Before it gets too cold,

let's all pull on a beautifully colored, perfectly loose enough but not too loose, maxi dress like this one.

And if it's already a bit too cold,

don't be cold-hearted.

Throw on a coordinated scarf!

I absolutely love the rich colors of this outfit.

Both the blue and the purple,

and the combination of the two,

look amazing!

It's nice that she chose a printed scarf,

as her dress is a solid color.

I think this dress would be perfect poolside or at the beach,

and then you can just throw on the scarf for dinner or a nice sunset walk along the beach.

It would also be fantastic for a day of shopping.

Let's enjoy our last couple weeks before the fall comes pouring down!

Hard & Soft

I love this look.

It's nice mix of soft elements (such as lace and an A-line bubble skirt)

and hard elements (such as the chain necklace, studded belt, and what appears to be defined shoulders on the top).

I would love to start incorporating more looks like this into my wardrobe.

And this is coming from someone who is not a huge fan of the "ombre-effect" trend.

However, I truly love those pants.

It's highly flattering the way they are dark around the hips and then light on the shins.

Also, I do not know who made your bag but it is beautiful as well.

I wish I could see more of it.

So Much Has Happened

In the past 3 weeks,

sooo much has happened.

I've taken a lot of big steps

that have been both scary and exciting.

I took a big step in my relationship

that had both positive and negative outcomes,

I have moved from the big city

to somewhat of a small town

in a whole new state,

I've started classes,

and am meeting lots of new people and making new friends.

So, what I'm getting to is,

I haven't had any time to update my blog.

However, now that I've settled into this new chapter of my life a bit,

I am ready to start blogging again.

I hope you'll understand my absence,

and continue reading my blog.

Mary-Kate Olsen!

Do you even think she realizes how genius this outfit is?

It's incredible really.

I've always loved the way she piles on lots and lots of vintage rings,

especially when she paints her nails classic red as well.

It such a great look for one's hands.

But this is more than that.

She also is wearing those beautiful shoes

that I need.

(Does anyone know who makes those beauties?)

The black tights under the black shoes make it more difficult to see the details,

but they are amazing.

I love the straps and the hint of gold.

And once again, her red nails make the look all the more dreamy.

And then there is the large, cheetah print scarf.

It definitely adds punch to this otherwise mainly black ensemble.

I love the way it's flowing in this picture.

The raw edges are also nice.

Raw edges are something the Olsens seem to be friends with,

as we often see them looking somewhat undone, but in such beautiful, positive, ways.

My other favorite part of this outfit is the simple black mini-skirt.

You wouldn't think I'd make such a big deal over such a simple item,

but it fits her perfectly.

Fit

is very important to an outfit,

whether your clothing fits you perfectly or is perfectly small or perfectly large.

Fit should be on purpose. It should not be a sign of laziness.

The truth is this seemingly simple skirt is quite a staple.

I want one just like it.

All in all,

Mary-Kate,

with her mix of many gold rings,

the beautiful pops of color from the 2 rings on her hand around that person's arm and the red nail polish,

her spectacular shoes,

the wild cheetah-print scarf,

and the skirt that is fit to a T,

has created an outfit that I think would qualify her as a fashion icon and genius,

were she not already considered those things.

P.S. Did you notice she's subtly flipping off the paparazzo who took this? You would almost think it was an accident if you looked at her face. She looks totally spaced out.

Color Rich

How do you not love this?

Seriously, how could it be done?

The colors are so rich and I love the pairing of the black,

just-above-the-ankle boots with such rich, jewel-toned outfits.

I think the Louboutin boots on the left might even have lace on them, yes?

And I understand some might object to the somewhat odd shapes of the fuchsia dress.

Indeed, it reminds me of an astronaut's space suit.

But I think it's interesting, especially for a photo as opposed to actually wearing it out.

As for the look on the right, I'd totally wear it out and about.

It's even my school colors. Haha.

And as far as photography goes,

I totally looove the wallpaper in the back.

It adds a nice texture to the photo and livens up the colors in a way a white background couldn't.

That's another thing I love about this photo.

Between the wallpaper, the shape of the fuchsia dress, the subtle pleats in the purple skirt, the ruffles on the red shirt, the leather of the jacket, the lace boots, and the metal detailing on the boots on the right,

this photo is very rich in texture.

Likes: Exposed Zippers

Over the past 28-or-so hours,

I've really been noticing exposed zippers.

The exposed zipper is a current trend and it's one that I've decided I like.

These zippers add edge and a "rocker" feel to an outfit.

Behnaz Sarafpour (Those pants are to die for, especially when paired with those flats.)

Kate Hudson in Alexander Wang (This look is one of my favorite exposed zipper looks. I love how the zipper stands out against the brightly colored dress.)

The first exposed zipper I saw was at a concert I attended last night with my boyfriend.

The keyboardist of the band had on this ruffled, extra dark, navy, satin dress

with an exposed zipper going up the back.

What I really liked about that exposed zipper was that it wasn't the main focus of the dress,

but instead it was a side-note, but a very nice surprise of a side note.

You sort of think you have her dress figured out when you see it from the front,

but then you see the back and realize this dress isn't as prim and proper as you thought.

Then today, I went shopping with my best friend,

and came across the most "darling" skirt (as my friend put it).

When I went to try it on, I noticed the skirt had an exposed zipper.

I was pretty neutral about it,

but then kept turning around to look at it in the back.

The exposed zipper really added a nice detail to the skirt.

It added some edge to an otherwise very sweet, girly, classic, skirt.

I decided the exposed zipper was definitely a plus.

Whether an exposed zipper (or two) is the main focus of a piece,

or merely a side note;

whether the zipper is functional,

this is a trend I like.

Another Reason to Love Taylor Swift

She mixes brights with brights and

Rocks. It.

People often pair a bright color with a neutral like black or khaki or white,

and that's fine.

But you can pair brights with other brights, too!

Just carefully.

Here, Taylor gives us a great example.

Her blue dress and green shoes go fabulously together.

I also love her jumble of bracelets.

They add a casual ease to the outfit,

giving off the message that Taylor doesn't try too hard

and those are probably just the mix of bracelets she wears everyday.

It's rather Olsen-like,

and I love it.

But also one of the bracelets is the same green as her shoes,

which ties the bracelets and the rest of the outfit together.

It's messy yet tied together,

if that even makes sense.

My only question is,

what's that on her hand?

It looks like waves.

Maybe some face painting for the hand?

I doubt it's a tattoo.

Lace Overlaying My Heart

I love this.

You could wear it over something ivory or nude,

to keep the attention on the gorgeousness of this piece.

Or you could layer it over a black dress, for an also-beautiful

classy, night-time look.

Or you could go for a pop of color underneath.

The options are endless.

However you choose to wear it,

Diane Dons Stella Supremely

I love Diane Kruger and I love Stella McCartney.

So what happens when you put the two together?!

An outfit I'm sure to love, love, love!

Here we see Diane Kruger looking amazing in a casual Stella McCartney yellow top and blue tulip skirt with a chic, white Chanel 2.55 bag.

I don't think I've ever seen yellow and blue look so fantastic together!

And the pop of the white bag is very unique.

Usually I'd expect a different bag with an outfit like this,

(maybe a fringed bag in cognac?)

but I love the way the outfit looks with the Chanel 2.55.

Also, I like that she chose bright colors for her outfit,

and then a neutral bag,

instead of the other way around.

I think I'll have to try mixing blue, yellow, and white together soon!

Focusing on Diane's skirt...

I love the shape.

Tulip skirts are a great shape.

They are more fun than something straight and more unique than an A-line.

And I love the paper bag waist. It adds to the casualness of the look and brings nice detail.

The subtle stripes also bring great detail to the skirt.

I wouldn't love it nearly as much if it weren't for the stripes.

Overall, the look is divine.

It could be worn out shopping, to lunch, to class, even on a casual date!

I really respect that Stella McCartney is doing her own thing and making a name for herself on her own.

Some daughters of celebrities will forever be known as So-&-So's daughter,

but not her!

She definitely makes it hard to chose a favorite McCartney!

My 50th Post!!!

I apologize for the hiatus.

I admit I was a bit intimidated by my 50th post, because I wanted it to be something extra special.

So, after many days, I decided I'd do something more personal than usual and I came up with a little survey on personal style and fashion/beauty favorites.

I hope you enjoy my questions and answers.

I look good because I...

Eat pretty healthily and am confident in myself (on most days). I know that I am naturally beautiful and celebrate that. I know that I don't need to look like a movie star or be as thin as Kate Moss.

If I could only wear one pair of shoes for the rest of my life, I'd choose...

Black, patent leather, ballet flats. They are more comfortable than heels, easy to walk in, classic, and go with almost any outfit. I practically live in my black, patent leather, ballet flats already!

My favorite nail polish shade is...

I have two. Classic red and bright, blush pink. It just depends on whether I want a more cheerful and playful look (pink) or something more adult and classic (red). But I also enjoy experimenting with more unique colors such as silver, orange, blue, purple...even neon yellow. My basic rule is bright. I love for my nail polish to pop. I rarely choose light pastels.

My favorite colors to wear are...

Currently combinations of red, white, and black. I think of it as a sort of French look, and I love that about it. However, my closet also contains a lot of blue, purple, and pink. I'm also currently loving yellow, especially when paired with other brights like pink. I sort of have two sets of clothing. I have my jewel tones, where my neutral color is black or navy blue. And then I have my earthy, 1970s-inspired clothing that contains a lot of cream, mustard yellow, rusty orange, bits of moss green, navy blue (again) and brown. I love brown.

My favorite make-up looks are...

1. Bronzey gold eyeshadow and a subtle, sparkly red gloss with black mascara.

I create this look using the gold I swear by and my favorite gloss, both pictured below.

[Cranberry Shimmer Lip Balm from the Body Shop - Mine is so old it has the original label they no longer use.

I also recently found out this is a Christmas special, so you'll have to wait until Christmas season to stock up..

2. A little bit of silver eyeshadow or liner OR skin-tone matching eyeshadow with pink lips (you can use either gloss or lipstick or both), and a bit of black mascara.

I often use the gloss pictured below that I recently stumbled across or the lipstick also pictured below.

3. Red lipstick and lots of black mascara. Black liquid liner is optional.

Every woman should have ______ in her closet.

A fabulous LBD (Little Black Dress), black patent leather flats, a well-fitted blazer, dark jeans, lots and lots of accessories and jewelry of all kinds, and bras that are the correct size for her. (Something like 80% of women wear the wrong size bra. You can get professionally fitted (usually for free) at your local Nordstrom, Macy's, or other lingerie store. I swear to you it'll make a huge difference! It did for me!)

Some shoe designers I love (though not necessarily can afford) are...

Of course, Christian Louboutin, as well as Yves Saint Laurent, and Sam Edelman. I am also very impressed by Jessica Simpson's collection. From looking at the shoes, you would never guess it's a celebrity line.

Describe your personal style in two words.

Feminine eclectic.

The last item(s) I bought were...

Two scarves and a pair of sunglasses. The scarves are both light, summery scarves. One is bright pink with black leopard print. The other has an ombre effect, where black fades to gray, with white horizontal stripes over the ombre-effected color. The sunglasses have pewter plastic frames that are round (but not circular). They remind me of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.

Some of my favorite fabrics are...

Rayon/modal and chiffon. Rayon and modal flow incredibly nicely and are just spectacular. There's a reason why a huge portion of my tops and dresses are those materials, despite that they must be hand-washed. I also love chiffon for blouses and formal dresses. Chiffon doesn't cling to the body and gives a slimming effect because of that. It's great for blouses that tie at the neck.

My favorite handbag is...

The Balenciaga Motorcycle bag. Hands down. It has been for years. I dream of owning one someday. I adore both the original ones with the long, fringe-like tassels as well the "Giant" collection, which is known for having larger hardware.

Gold jewelry or silver jewelry?

Either. It just depends on my mood and what else I'm wearing. Admittedly, I don't tend to mix metals even though I see it on others and love it. For some reason doing it myself just bothers me.

I am never seen without...

There's nothing I always wear every day because I like to mix things up. With that said, very highly often I wear this silver cocktail ring with a rose design. It's one of my staples, and the funny thing is I got it for less than $1 at a garage sale about 5 years ago. But I love it so much!!

I admire/am inspired by _____'s personal style.

So many people inspire me. I'm sure to forget some. I love Sienna Miller, Nicole Richie, Rachel Bilson, Lauren Conrad, Vanessa Hudgens, Twiggy, and many more. I am also inspired by various designers, blogs, people I see on the street, and the costumes and styling of movies I see. When I saw Revolutionary Road, I took out a napkin and drew a dress inspired by the looks and the time-period on screen.

"Cream" Dream

I just have to say,
Jennifer Love Hewitt looks stunning in that dress.
It's a truly beautiful dress.
I love the detail right below the bust,
and the nice cream-ish color that has just a hint of an orangey pink.
It fits her very nicely and flows well.
If anyone knows the designer, I'd love to know.Also, I love her make-up.It looks very pretty.

A Little Tribute

These sandals were mega popular a few seasons back,
and I am still in love with them.
They go into the category of my all-time favorites.
When I look at them, I am reminded of the many pairs of Saltwater Sandals I had as a child.
I'd say they are sort of a grown-up version of the Saltwater Sandals.

In Another Life

I think, that if I could live life again,
I'd like to be Sienna Miller.
Or at least dress like her.
There's something so unique and casual about her style.
She always looks so great.
And she looks like she didn't try that hard;
like she got up and picked up random pieces from her closet,
but that everything in her closet just happened to be amazing and perfect.

And besides, she played Edie Sedgwick in the movie, Factory Girl,
which gives her automatic coolness.

Do we agree?
Do we all love her?

Swim to Swear By

The first time I really started noticing J.Crew was when my brother got his first girlfriend.

I'd always looked at J.Crew as something for preppy people from the east coast,

but this young woman always made it look so eclectic.

Then today, while browsing the J.Crew website,

I came across this totally cute bikini.

I love the way the stylist paired the long gold necklace with the lush green swimsuit.

This suit also comes in many, many, other colors. This yellow is one of my favorites.

It would look great against a bronze tan.

This coral pink is another favorite of the color options.

For someone with less of a tan, and pink undertones, this would look spectacular,

especially if you have blue eyes.

(I think I need it!)

This is a close-up of what I believe is the bottom to the bikini.

I admit these look a little different than the bottoms in the top photo,

but after searching the site, these seem to be the ones offered.

They were also linked from the page for the bikini top.

Unfortunately this adorable swimsuit is only available online and through the catalog.

Lather Me in Leather, Then Play My Favorite (Band) Song

This is another spectacular example of some fabulous fashion photography.

I love the way the image looks torn on the side.

Perhaps torn from a magazine? Or maybe this way an effect the photographer did on the print.

Anywho...the outfit.

I love it.

I love the band jacket so much.

It reminds me a bit of the late and great Michael Jackson (R.I.P.).

I also love the way a simple, plain, tee is paired with the embellished jacket.

It's a nice balance and tones it down a notch.

I love the suede and studs of the boots.

And as for the leggings,

well I'm not a fan of shiny/leather-like leggings,

but I do admit it's a nice way to mix textures here.

It's just if I were to don this outfit,

I'd need to switch the shiny leggings for another kind.

With the suede boots, the cotton tee,

the shiny, leather-like (possibly actual leather) leggings,

and the embellished jacket,

we see a nice mixture of fabrics and textures here.

It's a great look.

I Choose the Choos

What a great pair of Jimmy Choos.

I love the green snakeskin, the gold zipper,

and the many, many, straps.

Additionally, this is such a great photo.

I love the way the gold shower/bath fixtures match the gold zippers on the shoes.

It makes them pop.

I love great fashion photography,

and this is a lovely example of it!

French & Fun

Her look is full of girly, flirty, fun,

yet it is still fashionable.

It's not at all one of those "fun" outfits that just looks like a wacky mess.

Matthew McConaughey & his baby momma Camila Alves look great.

Matthew McConaughey looks handsome in his all black suit.

But really, this is about Camila.

I love her dress.

The blue is absolutely stunning,

and the draping is spectacular.

I've always been a fan of well-done draping.

It can be very flattering to the body,

and is a very sensual, beautiful, texture.

Camila's dress looks very Grecian.

It reminds me somewhat of a toga,

but it avoids looking like a toga costume.

Her dress looks like a beautifully draped toga dress.

I also love the way she paired great pewter accessories with the dress.

The circle dangle earrings offer a nice non-Grecian touch,

helping to keep the look from being costume-y.

The bracelets with the round beads continue the circular trend we see in the earrings.

On the red carpet, we so often just see bracelets similar to Camila's other bracelet,

so I appreciate her adding the beaded ones. It's a nice unique look.

And then there is her clutch.

Someone please get. me. that. clutch.

I love the varying textures and the way the sides taper in towards the top.

It looks great with her other pewter accessories,

all of which compliment her gown perfectly.

Camila's hair is bouncy and full of kinked curls.

A style that looks fantastic on her.

And to top it all off, she is smiling such a bright, happy, smile.

A smile like her's is the greatest accessory of all!

This Summer, Go to the Max!

Again, this photo is old, but maxi dresses are still hot.

I used to hate maxi dresses. I thought they were just not attractive.

But that's no longer my opinion at all.

When the maxi craze started last summer,

I bought a brightly colored maxi dress from Forever 21 for $20.

The long length and bright colors intimidated me.

I felt like there was no way to wear it without definitely being noticed, but finally,

a whole year later,

I got over my insecurities and wore it.

All day I got great compliments on my dress.

This dress that I considered not much more than a beach cover-up, was being called "elegant" and "beautiful."

That's the thing about maxi dresses.

While they can be ever so casual,

they somehow manage be elegant at the same time.

Here Nicole Richie dons a great floral maxi,

and compliments it with a fabulous black leather jacket, black flip flops, my favorite bag (the Balenciaga Motorcycle Bag), black sunglasses, and a loving guy.

Nicole's maxi is strapless with ruching at the top to keep it up.

This is the same style as the one I own. (Yeah, I only own one casual maxi thus far...)

Personally, strapless maxis are definitely my favorite type of long dress.

I feel like when I'm covering up so much on the bottom,

I need to show some skin on top to balance it out.

Plus, strapless dresses are just elegant.

As are, maxi dresses.

So when you put the two together, you get double the elegance.

And if you're like me, and get a little intimidated by clothing sometimes,

you can choose a maxi like Nicole's that is more muted; not so bright.

I feel like if you were a goddess of the sea, an ice princess, or some sort of starry princess of the galaxy
this dress is what you might wear.

Or just if you were someone who appreciates the beauty of this Valentino dress as much as I do.

On another note, I like make-up look this model is donning. The eyes are intense, but I like it. The rather light colors of the rest of the make-up help balance it out. Her lips are such a pretty color.

1980s Girly Prom with Menswear

BAM!
That's what I think when I see Irina Lazareanu in this pose.
I also think of a prom in the 1980s,
what with her big, teased up, hair,
shiny bright pink taffeta,
large bow (bow, yes?) on her dress,
contrasting black and pink,
and somewhat-dramatic blush.
And while I am not huge on this whole 80s take-over we've got going in the fashion world currently,
(bright colors? love em! leggings? okay under a skirt, but don't mistake them for pants. shoulder pads? run as fast as you can away.)
I love this look!
I love it!
And I really think her pose and those roses on the runway make my love so much stronger.
(And I apologize. I don't remember which designer this is a show for.)

Now on to that girly/manly thing we've got goin' down.
I love the pink. Love it!
It's perfectly girly, as are the messy bow/loopy thing/draping(?), and the peep-toe heels.
Also girly? The light pink rose she is either holding, wearing as a ring, or has attached to her vest. I cannot tell which it is, but I'm hoping for a nice, big, flowery, cocktail, ring.
But when you add the menswear details of the top hat (!!!), sequin bow tie (!!!), and vest,
the whole look just becomes that much more dramatic, fashion-forward, and to die for.
I just love the fact that the bow tie is sequined, by the way!

To whomever designed this,
and to model Irina,
I must say,
you have managed to channel the 1980s in all the right ways and avoided all of the bad 80s aspects.
I love it and congrats!
Thank you, even, for showing people how to do the 80s prom look correctly.
And also, thanks for showing us all a fabulous way to mix girlyness with guyness.

And please people, drizzle some beautiful flowers on your walkways, runways, and down the isle during your wedding.

First off, I'd like to apologize for my slow pace in blogging.
I have been spending a lot of time with my friends and boyfriend lately, and really haven't had much time to update.
But I am going to try to blog more frequently.

With that said, here we see Nicole Richie looking fun and chic.
This is indeed an old photo, but that doesn't mean her look isn't still stylish.

I am a big advocate for glamourously large sunglasses
and the somewhat 1960s vibe I am getting from her white rims.
And, Nicole is one of my very favorite stylistas.
I love the way she carries the white throughout her outfit with the sunglasses, shoes and adorabley cool ruffle top.
(Did I mention I love layered ruffle tops, so long as they don't add tons of weight?)
I also love the straps of her shoes. They are unique.

Nicole pairs a great, classic, pair of skinny jeans with her bold white pieces.
The deep blue and simplicity (no fading, whiskers, etc.) are a great base for her printed top.

And then of course, we have the bag.
It is a Balenciaga Motorcycle Bag,
which is and has been my hands-down favorite handbag for years.
A few years back, Nicole was constantly seen rocking the Balenciaga Motorcycle bag in all colors.
I've never seen it in this color, but it goes well with her outfit,
and is gorgeous.

Depending on the weather of where you live, this would be a great look to try for summer.
If long jeans won't do, you could always try some cropped jeans or shorts,
or find a great dress version of Nicole's top.
Or you could channel the 60s with this look in the spring.

Floral Fascination

Upon reviewing my blog, I have realized that I hardly write about great looks involving pants, or looks that aren't dresses.
I find this a bit odd since I actually love a great pants-and-top look or casual jeans look.
So I went on a hunt and found that most of the websites I look at contain mainly dress looks.
But I was determined and found a fabulous floral look, sported by Cameron Diaz.
I absolutely love Cameron Diaz's outfit here!
I like that she chose a unique black, but not totally dark black, pant.
Often we see the light gray pants or black-black pants,
but I really like Cameron's lighter black pants.
But truly the gem of this outfit is Cameron's fabulous floral top.
The colors are bright and the flowers are beautiful.
The somewhat drapey fit is nice.
I love flowy tops, but it's nice how she accessorizes and pulls in her top with a great white belt.
Her shoes also match the white line of the belt as well.
I also adore the way she brings out the color in her shirt by pairing it with an incredible red bag.
That bag and that top are both divine.
She also brings out the white in her top with the belt and shoes.
It's always, always, a good move to work colors from the statement piece of an outfit into the accessories!!
I've never ever seen that look bad.

CFDA Awards: Certainly Fashionable Diane Attends

I admit that when I first started hearing about Diane Kruger and how she was/is so stylish, I didn't really understand what all the fuss was about.
But now...I love her!
I've seen her don many amazing outfits and this is just one of them.
Her dress is a nice orangey red without being too orangey,
and the hints of black in the shoulders, belt, and shoes go nicely with it.
I love that she is showing a way to have shoulder emphasis,
something that is hot right now,
without simply using shoulder pads (which I cannot, will not, stand).
It's kind of like she has doilies on her shoulders,
but in a good way.
I love her shoes as well. I don't think she could have made a better choice.
And while we are at it, Jason Wu looks nice as well.
His suit is very simple and chic,
and I looove how shiny his patent leather shoes are.
Very nice Diane and Jason. Very nice.

A Summer Delicacy

I absolutely adore this look.

I love the wispy summer scarf,

and the delicacy of the dress.

It looks a bit inspired by lingerie,

but it doesn't look as though she is actually wearing a lingerie slip as a dress

(which is something I'm not a huge fan of, despite my love of lingerie).

The cropped jacket creates a nice break-up and offers diversity in lengths,

as the dress and scarf are similar lengths.

I also like the way she pairs chunky gladiator sandals with wispy, delicate, pieces.

I wasn't always a huge fan of heeled gladiator sandals,

but now I don't mind them. They are nice.

And of course the sunglasses just make her look even more summery and cool.

Looking Lovely in Lilac

Here is Amanda Bynes looking totally fabulous in a short lilac dress at what appears to be an awards show.

I truly love the color of the dress.

It looks great with the color of her hair.

Furthermore, the sash and cowl neck are great details.

Plus, the hints of black we see in the straps and even in the neckline balance out the dress,

keeping it from being overly purple.

In my opinion, Amanda chose a bag and shoes (especially the shoes!) that go very well with this outfit.

She looks great!!

Apparently I'm Not the Only Fan...

To my delight, I came across a post on the very look I'm obsessed with right now,
that being red, white, and black.
However, the Glamour post is more specifically about black and white printed dresses with red lips and nails,
whereas I tend to obsess over any red, white, and black look.

I absolutely love this dress that Katy Perry is wearing for a photo shoot for Seventeen Magazine!
The colors are very summery and cheery,
and I love the yellow outlining.
I also love the way there is a square-ish scoop neckline with a V-neckline within it.
It's a very flattering and exciting dress.
It's also very unique.
It appears to be a bandage dress if you look closely.
Unfortunately, though, I do not know the designer or the store from which this beauty came.

What's Black, White, & Red all over?

I apologize if this blog is getting repetitive,
but I simply cannot get over my love of looks that are combinations of black, white, and red.
It's a killer combo,
whether you combine just two,
or all 3.

What I adore about this look,
is the way her stripes are a bit less defined.
They are not all the same width,
and some of the white ones don't even fully go across her,
but instead become white triangles surrounded in black.
Usually, we see very definite stripes, so this is a nice way to mix up the look and make it unique.
I also love that they are diagonal, instead of straight across.
Furthermore, her dress has two different types of straps and is nicely tailored to her body.
It's very flattering.

Drew adds a great finishing touch to her B&W outfit, by adding red lips and heels.
By the way, I love that the two reds match!

And to make an awesome outfit even more spectacular,
Drew braids her hair above her forehead
like Heidi (as in the story about a young girl living with her grandfather in Switzerland, not Lauren Conrad's ex-best friend) or Mary-Kate Olsen,
which is another one of my current favorite looks.

Soo...if I were give a grade to this outfit like I did to those of my step-sister when I was in elementary school,
this outfit would get an A+++++++++++

That was my first thought upon seeing this dress.

My second thought was, "I really like the photo."

It's true. I really like the way the actual photo looks,

but even more I am in love with that dress.

I'm not sure I could pull off the cut-outs because I'm not model-thin,

but my love for fashion doesn't need to be bogged down by what I can and can't pull off.

I can still love, adore, and be in awe over this dress regardless.

Hey readers!

I really love these heels from Bakers Shoes.

I find them to be very classy, sophisticated, and feminine.

They are also a great staple to have in your closet to wear for many special occasions.

And at a discounted price of $39.99, they were the perfect find.

The catch?

I waited to long to order them and now they are all out of my size.

I really need/want a pair as similar as possible to these for an upcoming event at the end of this month!!!

[ABS by Allen Schwartz Strands of Gold Necklace]

This necklace is to die for!

It's a great balance of gold chains and jewels.

I particularly love the roundness of the diamonds.

I just adore messy piles of chains, and the diamonds give this edgy piece some sophistication.

Plus, if you look closely, some of the diamonds are a nice light pink shade.

Oh, and by the way, they aren't real diamonds. They are crystals.

But that's okay! It just makes it more affordable!

I will always love you, Fuchsia

For the longest time, I could not get enough of the color fuchsia.

I kept finding clothing I just loved and would buy,

not knowing why it was I loved it so much.

Then I realized it was the color.

I loved those pieces because they were all a very rich color: fuchsia.

I ended up having to consciously STOP buying fuchsia clothing,

because I owned so much that I couldn't wear anything with anything else

because everything I owned was fuchsia.

So anywho,

my point is,

I love fuchsia.

I'm not sure I'd say it's my favorite color still,

but I do love it.

And I love this dress.

It's really a great party dress.

It kind of reminds me of what a young woman would wear to a birthday party when she wanted to channel her youth but not look too young.

It's fun, flirty, girly, adorable, and yet chic.

Red in my Head

I don't know if anyone's noticed, or if I've stated this before, but for the past couple of months I have been loving any combination of the following: black, white, and red. I love all 3 together or simply black and white or even black and red. I especially adore black and white stripes with hints of red via accessories. I currently own 3 black and white striped shirts that all have the exact same width of stripes, and honestly, would buy more. So with all that said...

I LOVE THIS DRESS.

I love the way the black stripes continue across her back precisely in line with the way they are on the dress.

I also love her make-up, as red lipstick is also something I've been loving (but not living) as of late.

And I also must add that the gap between her teeth really adds to this photo and looks great!

It's by Rachel Bilson's Edie Rose line for DKNY. It's a black blazer with white piping trim.

And these shoes would match perfectly!

But even apart from the blazer/pumps combo,

Now normally I'm not a fan of Miley Cyrus.

However...

I really like her outfit here.

I think it's well-matched and awesome.

The jacket has a nice edgy look to it,

the dress displays a nice 1920s flapper influence (note the fringe) without looking costume-y,

and the boots add a nice "downtown" feel to it.

The shade of teal of her dress is great as well!

It looks luscious.

This Dress.

It is one of the most gorgeous dresses

I have ever seen.

It's absolutely spectacular.

I wish I knew the designer,

as well as the photographer.

The photo is beautiful, as well.

I love the mix of such a high fashion model and dress

with McDonald's.

Sam Edelman is at it again...

That is, he is creating gladiator sandals that make me swoon.

Last summer it was his "Gilda" gladiators I was drooling after,

and this season it's the "Greco."

Like last year's make, the Greco features multiple straps across the foot

and two straps around the ankle.

The Greco comes in pewter, gold, and black,

like the Gilda did,

as well as many other colors.

But this year's gladiator fix is updated with straps that are braided at the center

and some thicker leather.

Compare the two below:

I don't understand how shoes like this can exist,

yet somehow do not exist in my closet.

Especially at such a reasonable (ish) price!

They are divine and delicious.

I feel like these were meant to be worn while dancing the tango.

They've got that sort of Spanish flair to them,

in my eyes.

They are gorgeously feminine, intricate, sexy, stylish, saucy, and amazing.

Every little detail about them is perfect.

The patent leather, the black with the red, the specific shade of red, the little gold buckle, the wonderfully shaped heel, the rounding of the cut-out to the strap (if that makes sense), the way the flower is to the side of the toes instead of in the center....I could go on.

Normally I'm not a huge fan of ankle straps,

or even strappy heeled sandals.

But these I ADORE.

They are so one of a kind.

I may have to purchase them,

despite not having an event to wear them to.

For these,

I will make an event!

Or better yet, where them on just a regular day.

I'm sure they'd make an ordinary day extraordinary!

Now I'm not sure how I feel about the way the shoulder/straps go up and out.

If I owned this, I might tweak them a bit.

But other than that,

I LOVE THIS BALMAIN DRESS.

I truly can't get enough of Balmain these days.

And it's almost kind of odd that I like this dress so much,

because it reminds me of robots and outer space,

and when I first found out about the "futuristic" trend

I strongly opposed it.

But I love this dress regardless.

In some ways, it's like a puzzle or stained glass,

....or maybe a broken mirror?

It could also be interpreted as crystalized ice.

Oh my gosh!

I absolutely love Kate Hudson's outfit at a Dolce & Gabbana show this season!

The material,

the fit,

the chocolate brown with the black,

the perfectly matched accessories,

I love it all!

I've always thought Kate Hudson had strikingly gorgeous eyes

and overall beauty,

and this photo just proves me right.

Not only is her outfit to die for,

but she looks amazing in it.

One thing I noticed about some other outfits people wore to this show was that,

for a lot of them,

the clothing seemed to overpower the person.

It was like, as they say, the clothes were wearing the person.

But Kate is truly wearing this outfit;

it's not wearing her.

Red Nail Polish

For the past couple of weeks, I've adorned my nails,

both finger and toe,

with a classic shade of bright red polish.

What I love about this look that that it makes me feel gorgeous,

and will never go out of style.

Another reason I love red polish is because it pops,

Heidi Klum, Eva Longoria Parker, and Kate Beckinsale at a Golden Globes after party

I love all three of these glamourous ladies' outfits.

My favorites are Heidi's and Eva's,

but truly I love all 3.

Heidi's has nice 1950s flavor to it;

Eva's is just absolutely glamourous and chic;

They also compliment each other very well when they stand together,

seeing as they share colors.

Also, I love that Heidi wore red lipstick. It goes very nicely with the red flower on her dress.

Rihanna in an Airport

So here's the deal. I'm a big Rihanna fan. At one point she was my favorite pop singer.

In addition, she was (as still is, to an extent) one of my fashion inspirations.

I love her tough, edgy look and many of the dresses she sports on the red carpet.

But this?

Well it's alright from the shoulders down.

Those jeans fit her pretty well and I like the top a lot.

But the glasses and the hair?

Oh dear. What is going on here? Someone explain to me because I don't understand.

I like her short hair, but this style is not a good look.

And those glasses just make her look weird and robotic.

They remind me of Star Trek.

Itsy Bitsy Beautiful Lace and Satin

If someone handed me a bunch of money

and told me I could only spend it on one type of clothing

or in one department of a store,

I think I'd head on over to the lingerie department.

Right now,

and on and off again,

I'm loving lingerie.

There's something to be said for beautifully crafted undergarments.

Even if I'm the only one who is going to see me in these special little things,

wearing a matching bra and panties,

especially ones that are extra special,

always seem to give me a little boost through out the day.

(No pun intended.)

It makes me feel more confident and powerful.

Even the most girly, lacy, bra that seems rather unpowerful,

can give me strength.

I'm not sure what it is,

but I love it.

I've got a soft spot for lingerie made of lace, satin, mesh, ribbon;

all things feminine and gorgeous.

So tell me,

do you share my love of lovely lingerie?

Where do you usually get yours?

(Or do you just dream of owning special lingerie,

seeing as it can be a bit pricey?)

Which brand is your favorite?

My personal favorites are DKNY bras.

They always fit me perfectly,

don't show under close-fitting tops,

are super well-made,

fit my budget (about $32-$38 each bra),

and are gorgeous.

In fact, almost all of my bras are DKNY.

Floral Fantasy

I recently came across this Prada pump and found it to be very adorable.

Currently in the Fashion Illustration class I am taking

we have an assignment where we must design a shoe inspired by some other object, animal, or non-shoe item.

We have to mold that item into the shape of a shoe or somehow incorporate it into the shoe.

This shoe is similar to what some of the girls are doing.

What I like about this pump is that it's simple in the front with an artsy, feminine, embellished heel in the back.

It's, as some would say, "business in the front; party in the back."

Haha.

But seriously, it's great.

The simplicity of this classic black pump allows it to be worn with several outfits,

yet the gorgeous floral heel steps it up a notch and will make one's outfit much more memorable,

without being over the top or too loud.

It's very versatile.

This shoe tells the world its wearer is chic and sophisticated,

but also fun and flirty.

I love it!

If it weren't for the fact that my budget in no way allows me to buy designer shoes,

I'd snatch this Prada shoe right up!

Great Grabs: Clutches from Target for Under $30

After a long day, I decided to hop onto Target.com to see what they had to offer.

To my surprise, I found lots of fabulous clutches!

And because the American economy isn't doing so well,

I decided to highlight those that are under $30,

(many of which are far below $30.)

1. Chic in a mature, sophisticated way.

2. A great fold-over clutch with an interesting tab closure.

3. I love the intricacy of this clutch, with it's metal loops, complex knot, and quilting detail. Plus the color makes it that much more fun.

5. Who can say NO to gold and black satin? A great clutch for a cocktail party.

6. For those of us who love blue but could use a handle.

7. A great black satin clutch. I actually own this one. While I admit I have yet to use it, I suspect it'll be great to have around for holiday parties and formal dances.

8. I can't get over the color nor the juicy look of the patent leather (or more likely pleather).

9. I absolutely love this one. The Japanese bow is girly yet sophisticated. The hint of gray makes it stand out among other black satin clutches.

One popular trend these days is studs.

We see studs on shoes, clothing, bags, belts, and just about any place a stud can be put.

Originally, studs were only seen on rock musicians and their fans.

But now, studs are being worn by everyone.

Sarah Jessica Parker rocked a studded belt in the Sex & The City Movie,

and Rihanna has been continuously seen in studs.

Personally, I give this trend a big thumbs up!

I love it!

It's a nice way to incorporate bling into an outfit without needing jewelry.

It also gives a nice edge.

I also like that there are all sorts of studs.

There used to be just one or two types.

But now studs come in gold, silver, bronze, color, shiny, muted, round, triangular, pointy, flat, etc.

Fashion: Who I Am & What I Think

I thought I'd start off by saying a bit about who I am and what I think, when it comes to fashion.

First off, I do not (currently) work in the fashion industry.

I am merely a fan of fashion,

but quite a huge fan at that.

Over my life, my personal style has changed a lot.

In fact, it's likely it'll change through out the existence of this blog.

I've gone from wearing whatever my mom bought me or my brothers handed down to me

to being a picky, unique, informed, trendy, fashionista.

I've gone from disliking purple and absolutely despising gray,

to having them be some of my personal favorites.

I've gone from punk to earthy to girly to bold.

I've gone from never wearing black, to incorporating it into outfits as a way of complimenting brights.

But one thing that I know will never change is

my love for fashion.

Fashion is something that I obsess over,

something that warms my heart.

While some people I know say it's superficial of me to love fashion,

I disagree.

It is not superficial to be artistic and/or love art.

And fashion is art.

A beautiful dress is like a painting

only instead of just enjoying it when you're in the room the painting is in,

we can wear it and enjoy it all day.

While I'm completely against being judgmental,

the truth of the matter is,

people judge us partially based on what we wear.

So why not take some time making sure we are presenting ourselves in a way that expresses who we are.

Fashion is expression.

And besides, the majority of us don't live in nudist colonies.

We have to wear clothing.

So, as I see it, if you've got to wear something,

why not take the time to choose something special that you like

and that shows a bit about who you are?

Basically, for me,

fashion is a passion,

an art form,

and a form of expression.
